VE Day Special Edition - Forget Me Not Memory Cafe

Yesterday the Forget Me Not Memory Cafe marked VE Day with joyful celebration full of music, memories, and shared moments. Our group - made up of people living with dementia and their carers...

Our Forget Me Not Memory Cafe recently hosted a special VE Day session filled with music, conversation, and warm reflection. The event brought together people living with dementia, carers, family members, and volunteers for a morning shaped by remembrance and community.

The room was full of familiar songs, shared stories, and small moments of connection that made the celebration feel both uplifting and meaningful. Activities were designed to be welcoming and accessible, creating space for everyone to take part in their own way.

Memory Cafe sessions play an important role at the centre. They offer more than a place to meet - they provide routine, companionship, and a supportive environment where people can relax, chat, and feel understood.

The VE Day theme added an extra layer of conversation, with members reminiscing about family stories, old photographs, and music that sparked recognition and smiles. It was a reminder of how community spaces can hold both care and celebration at the same time.

We are grateful to everyone who helped shape the session and to the members who continue to make the Memory Cafe such a special part of the week.
